I don’t know how this book got into my Kindle library but it did. It might have been a Kindle First Reads download or something. It showed good reviews on Amazon.com of course but left me wondering why.
It’s the story of a young adult who wants to write a story about something to publish in their local newspaper to win a writing contest. It was touted as being such an amazing love story. I thought it was OK enough to keep reading but I did so because I kept thinking there would be more.
They should have taken the left turn and ran away. Then it would be about the love that they had…. the challenges and experiences of dealing with part of the family that does not accept them. It was too unbelievable that her mother did not allow her to see this guy who did not do anything terrible. Sure he went to jail once or twice but it wasn’t for murder and he could have easily gotten his life back on track with the support and love of someone who really gets him.
I did not know until the end that it was based on a true story that would have made me be a little less critical I think, if I had known in the beginning. From now on, I am going to try to research books more before I start them.
Quick read. OK. Not the amazing love story I thought it would be.
