I purchased the Kindle edition because of so many good reviews in the Facebook book forums when I saw it was on sale.
I can’t tell – is it me or are most books these days just so-so. The last book I remember being amazing was Memoirs of a Geisha – so I am reading that next so I can tell if it is just me and getting old and nothing surprises or impresses me – or that writing books just isn’t what it used to be.
Now reading the blurbs on amazon.com, I see that the author Robert Dugoni has all sorts of accolades for previous books.
I had to ignore all the religious quotes being a reformed catholic and take the quotes such as “Everything happens for a reason” and “It is God’s Will” with the grain of salt to get through this book. It is one of those books you keep thinking will get better.
I don’t know who is writing all those good reviews or what other books they have read to compare them all.
The book went back and forth between Sam Hells childhood and adult life and to me it caught me off guard sometimes as so much time went by between the two, I almost forgot what happened in the other timeframe.
